A common theme of the collective human condition is the propensity to focus on and debate the endpoints of a pendulum's swing while, at least in early phases, paying little mind to the fact equilibrium will not be found there. This is currently true of remote work in a pandemic world.
Companies that have embraced remote work over the past few decades have been both intoxicated by the possibilities and have learned that trade-offs are more material than the cons presented in this article. The calculus has changed in the past six months, and each employer will eventually find their own new homeostasis. I would venture that few medium to large enterprises will find it at Level 5.
